Our Story
Cam & Lisa
Lisa and I have always lived full lives. I’m an executive with a Swedish automation company. Lisa spent her nursing career as a Registered Nurse in a veterans’ critical care facility. She’s now retired and helping our youngest daughter build her new business, Twisted H Riding Co. Whenever we can, we still get away for a weekend or a longer trip somewhere beautiful.
We enjoy the history and architecture of places like NYC, Toronto and Paris. But our real love is the countryside and the outdoors across the US, Canada, the European Alps, and Central and South America, and there are plenty more places on our list.
Home is Jumping Run, our small farm in Taylorsville, NC, named for the creek along its edge. We share it with horses, goats, chickens and ducks, and we’re the third generation to live there. I grew up in rural northern Maine, in an area locals call “The County,” so farm life suits us both.
For all our travels, some of our best adventures have been close to home in the Blue Ridge Mountains and foothills of North Carolina. That’s what led us, along with close friends we often travel with, to invest in cottages near great outdoor recreation and charming mountain towns. Today we keep investing in interesting real estate, and we manage other owners’ homes as if they were our own. When our cottages aren’t booked, you might find us enjoying one ourselves.
